Being Content

I was taking trash up to the burning barrel, walking through four or five inches of heavy snow. The bags were light, but the snow still made the trip more difficult than usual. I began to long for Spring and warmer temperatures. Then I thought to myself, “Why is it, we always want something more?” We never seem to be happy and enjoy the moment at hand. When it’s blistering hot out, we are wishing for Fall. When we finish the chicken, we are wondering why we hadn’t ordered the beef. Just recently, I found the perfect purse. I had been shopping for years and hadn’t found anything that suited my purposes. Then, in Burlington Coat Factory, (yes, they really do have more than just coats!) I found it. After I brought it home, I debated back and forth with myself. Since it is the perfect purse, maybe I should go back up and buy a second in case this one wears out! Instead of enjoying the one I had, I was worrying about when it would wear out!

Philippians 4:11-12 (NIV) says “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

Next time you find yourself in the middle of Winter and wishing for Spring, remember to live in this moment, enjoy this moment and to “be content whatever the circumstance. “


Our Ministries...

Knit-For-Kids Sweater Project

You will often see sweaters on display in the foyer. These are just some of the MANY that have been collected by our WW ladies and sent to the Guideposts Knit-For-Kids project. If you would like to become a sweater volunteer, patterns are available at the church office for knitting and crocheting (or visit the Guideposts Knit-For-Kids website). Finished sweaters may be placed under the Secret Sister shelf. Donations of yarn are also welcomed.

Labels For Education

You can help our WW ladies support the Hephzibah Children's Home by clipping UPC's and savings lids from the following products: Campbell's soups, Campbell's Supper Bakes, Pepperidge Farm crackers and cookies, Swanson broths and canned chicken, Prego Pasta sauce lids, V8 juice lids. See a complete list of products posted in the hall by the Secret Sister shelf. UPC's and lids can be placed in the special marked basket on the shelf.

Missions

DRW's Wesleyan Women currenty support several missionaries and also sponsor a child at the Hephzibah Children's Home in Macon, Georgia.
